So I have been learning many ways to hold animals for exams, vaccines, and blood draws. While I have been learning this my whole internship, this was a good day to actually take a picture. Usually everyone is very busy and it's hard to have someone else take a picture of me during a rush. In this picture I was holding a cat for a leg blood draw. Unlike dogs, they always try to draw from the leg in cats, where in dogs we usually try jugular veins. You can see I am scruffing the cat and holding off the back leg for Dr. Andrews to draw the blood. This cat was very sweet, and didn't wiggle too much. I use this almost every time I am at the clinic because we draw a lot of blood.Â
