Awhile ago we had an emergency come in very sick and lathargic. The first photo is what they removed from this dog. Because of how swollen and enlarged it is most people that I showed the picture to thought it was intestines or the colon. The doggie really had a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus. The second photo is what size the uterus should actually be. When this dog came in they had to do an emergency surgery to basically spay the dog or the infection could spread definetly killing the poor dog. This is one of he many reasons why veterinarians recommend spaying your dogs, because the more heat cycles they have the more they are at risk of possible getting a pyometra.
