Eye Enucleation

One of my favorite surgeries so far occurred today. This was an eye removal on a old beagle. The poor guy had a lens luxation and really high pressure levels, so basically he couldn't see out of that eye and it was causing him a lot of pain. It's kind of hard to tell in the photo, but since his eye pressures was really high his eye is bulging out of his head. The after picture is deceiving because the area is really swollen, but in a few weeks it will deflate and look like he is just blinking. The procedure of removing it was very interesting because she had to take out everything in the eye socket, which left a big empty hole.
